Zionism is not the problem
March 20th 2007 15:22
Are you bugged by the endless arias around the world how evil Zionism, yadda yadda yadda and how pliantly, the mainstream media carries this baleful tune? Well, I am tired and sick of it and I am not even a Jew( nor even an evangelical.)
The so-called Palestinian issue is a sideshow and like a never-ending soap opera it has gone from being bad to worse. That so-called French philosopher, who died recently, sorry can't spell his name, had it right: it's all a hyperreality. It's rather a nice concept. Pity though, like all leftists, he misapplied the concept to real tragedies like 9-11.
Zionism is not the problem, Arabism is. Israel is not refusing to accept Palestinian state. Hamas and Palestinians are.
Now yet one more charade of unity government is being played in the Palestine, it is time to say that loud and clear.

It isn't religion, there is nothing that is keeping Jews from living in Palestine with other non-jewish people, same goes the other way around, of course this doesn't fit well with the politics of the situation and why the US could justify spending so much on Israel to turn it into an ally in the middle east.
If you look at the individual people, they just want to live normally, from both sides, if you look at the extremist religious folk on both sides you see it isn't religion, it's politics thats driving them.
Politics and pride, thats the problem.

i am not surprised there is so much anger against the western world..it is because of attitudes like this..

Which is not Zionism.
Zionism is a politcal movement.
There Israel 2000 yeras ago
and Israel 60 years ago.
There is Israel today.
The Israel of 2000 years ago is not the Israel of today.
What happened the space of 2000 years is that the ancient Israel was destroyed and the people left.
New people arrived.
Just after ww2 Israel was given a portion of land in the Middle East. At that time no cared who was living there and so we have on going problems since.
This is the reality that has marked post war Middle East policies. Zionism like other forms of extremism tries to justify itself in all things. Even when it commits crimes it claims it is morally pure by virtue of being a Zionist.

For trying to distinguish between Zionism and Judaism. i knew the difference beforehand. What I am saying is that Arabism, one of the otheer forms of extremism, is a greater danger than Zionism ever was. If it was even a danger in the first place. Yet, Zionism is in minds of most peoples but Arabism is hardly on the radar. Just as your comment omits any mention of Arabism while castigating Zionism.

You are being an over-emotional when you wax eloquent about the sufferings of the Arabs and Palestinian issue beign a slow genocide. The amount of violence in palesstine will be outsized by violence in any reasonably sized urban city. There is no genocide.
ANd yes, Palestinians might ahve deserved some sympathy for their plight two decades ago but a society which voluntarily accepts terrorism and even lionizes it, a society which votes in a terrorist organization like Hamas deserves what it gets. And yes, once they refused to sign on the Oslo accord, they have lost the right to any legitimacy or claim on morality.
Yes, there is far more important stuff going in the world which could be easily solved if they even one tenth attention Palestinians get.

Sure, why the hell not? It's a political issue, not a religious one, you're taking the equal and opposite by trying to lay the blame on people rather than governments being funded to build weaponry.
The problem is political, it always was and it always will be, the US wants to have its little friendly ally in the middle east and dare I say isn't looking out for the interests of either sides people.
Who are you to say Palestinians voluntarily accept terrorism? Perhaps Iraqi's voluntarily accepted tyranny, and the Jews in Palestine voluntarily accept having their neighbors homes leveled to make room for them.
Of course you have this notion that people are at fault, so long as you and others who share your ideologies exist there will be problems in this world, because it is people like you who try to lay blame on the innocent while furthering your own political agenda's.

I'm sorry I missed the point of what you were trying to tell me. The term is too broad for me to get your meaning of the word.
