"THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE LIVE IN IT TODAY"--AYN RAND

The Inimitable John Kerry

November 1st 2006 10:23
Remember John Kerry? The godsend who sunk Democrats in 2004 election? I thought everybody had forgotten him. But he resurfaced at the last moment. Stumping for Phil ANgelides, the Democrat challenger for California Governor race, Mr. Kerry said this:You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.

When the uh so -called joke misfired big time, Kerry, unlike any politician with even a modicum of sense, refused to apologise. Some people in his own party are saying that John Kerry should have apologised and the matter would have been finished.

It is not just John Kerry. The entire mainstream press is taking his line and carrying the "It was supposed to be for Bush" line as if that explained anything. For once, if they had said what John Kerry said was stupid and reprehensible, that would have been nice and taken away the fire away from Republicans' sails. But no. They have to defend Kerry, they have to direct the blame somehow to Bush, they have to misrepresent, misstate or ignore the issue altogether. In this issue, they are being every bit as narcissistic and in denial as John Kerry.

So, only uneducated people end up in the army? Let's see. If you are brave and love your country, you know, you can fight the enemies and die an honorable death. If you don't, you can shoot yourself in the foot and claim a fake purple heart.

Some deomcrat contenders are distancing themselves from this man. WIll Tim russert ask any of them why they are distancing themselves from the President of the Alternative Reality?

Go here for extended coverage.

I always took him as the throw away candidate - "We're not going to win this election, boys and (ahem) Hiliary, so let's give them a Kennedy lookalike to bland our way through."

Kinda like J Bro (John Brogden).

Yeah. I've always wondered how such a candidate could get the first nomination after 9/11

heh, George Bush says dumber things on a more frequent basis but he never cops this much flak for it.

I believe him when he said it was directed at bush, however at the same time I criticise him for not choosing his words carefully. I do the same with george bush when he says what he does, so its all good... well not good per-se, but you get the drift...

I've looked into the whole thing and so have others and it is clear that Kerry meant what he wnated to say. Telling people that he wnated to take a potshot at Bush was simplay a way out explaining.

Well looking at it, to me atleast it really looks like he's having a go at george bush. I thought that to begin with as well, I mean if he was getting at people in the Army he would have said something like 'you get stuck in the reserves' or something. WHen he said home work and all it looked ilke he was referring to bush, but ok.

Might be just one of those things that slips through, he's really nuts if he's seriously attacking soldiers.

I have been reading more about him and looks like he has a history of saying these things. You should check www.squiggler.com It is a bit passionate, nevertheless gives quite a good collection of Kerry's sayings.

As for the excuse that he was having a go at Bush. wel, whether it was true or not, you don't judge acts in politics by inentions. By all means, bush's intentions in iraq were praiseworth but will you support him?

hmm I see. Well politicians will always be bloody hypocrites I suppose, its part of the job description.

Honestly, if the whole war was to get rid of saddam was a good thing, however, it looks like his intentions were more or less laid towards accepting whatever dick cheyney was telling him to do...
