"THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE LIVE IN IT TODAY"--AYN RAND

Mufti compares women to

October 26th 2006 07:16
I do not want to return to this topic just two days after writing about it but Sheikh Taj Aldin al Hilali’s remarks have brought the issue to the fore once again. Here we were debating whether the veil in itself is a mark of separation and there comes the news from a senior cleric that women who dress provocatively or wear make up are like uncovered meat and should blame themselves if some catty men want to paw at them.

Taken from The Australian:

"If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?

"The uncovered meat is the problem.
“If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred”

A hundred and one defenses can be constructed for hijab all of them sounding nice and rational. But, this is what lays at the heart of those who actually practice and promote it and it is this reason that lies behind it. And those of us who are against the hijab, are attacking this primeval thinking behind it. Hijab is only an outward symbol.
