"THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE LIVE IN IT TODAY"--AYN RAND

It's not just Iraq that's going up in smoke

November 13th 2006 07:40
Tony Blair wants to talk to Iran and Syria. John Howard supports him too. That's the new line coming from the White House and the faithful allies are doing their bit to promote it. White House has constituted a new Iraq Study Group which has James Baker (the one Le Monde got so worked up for, which is not a good sign), Robert Gates( Defence Secretary nominee who has recieved widely varying notices) and others.

Dunno what they want to talk to Iran and Syria. Some are already sceptical. The point is, it is not just Iraq, the west is enaged in a cat n mouse game to let Iran give up nuclear ambitions. The signs for those talks aren't looking good and now these guys want to talk about Iraq, well you might as well directly give them nuclear weapons. If that's not happening, maybe they will throw Israel to the lions. Iran won't give up without its share of the flesh.

Probably sensing that the big powers are going to "talk", Syria has already raised its ante. The Unity Government is Lebanon has collapsed as the Hizbollah ministers have all walked out of it. Too much of a coincidence. Everybody says that its on the brink of a civil war. Which can only mean Lebanon and what's left of it will be thrown to the dogs as well.

No matter what promises have been given to Iraqi presidents, the Democrats victory means Iraq is a gone case.

Things are not looking good at the moment. I think that Hamas announcing that it will take part in peace negotiations suddenly is supicious. Just at the same time Hizbollah has moved out of Lebanon government and Iran agreed to talks with Russia. I think it's all related to happen so closely. Maybe Iran and all are really tired and think they have pushed far enough and see this as a golden opportunity to shake hands with the west after getting their pund of flesh. Or else, events are piling up more dramatically and more fastly than anyone realised.

Iraq, Israel and Lebanon...... Surrender on all the fronts. Taken individually these three might be stomach-turning but taken together its a disaster. Those people who think that they are going to lose just Iraq better think again. Looks like they are going to lose all three though Israel might probably fight.

Before long we might see Iran with nuclear weapons, Lebanon taken over by Hizbollah and Iraq by the rest of them. Palestine is already under Hamas.

A trifecta for terrorists. The world is edging ever closer to chaos.

International Herald Tribune has an excellent article on worries of Israel that it might be asked to pay the price:

In September, Israel was abuzz over a speech by an American official that got little coverage in the American media. Philip Zelikow, counselor to Rice, addressed the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, considered sympathetic to Israel's interests, on "Building Security in the Broader Middle East."

Zelikow suggested that to build a coalition for dealing with Iran, the United States needed to make progress on solving the Arab-Israeli dispute.

"For the Arab moderates and for the Europeans, some sense of progress and momentum on the Arab-Israeli dispute is just a sine qua non for their ability to cooperate actively with the United States on a lot of other things that we care about," he said.

The message seemed to Israelis perfectly clear: The Bush administration would demand Israeli concessions on the Palestinian issue to hold together an American-led coalition on Iran. American officials were quick to insist that there was no change in American policy, and that Zelikow was speaking on his own, from notes rather than a prepared speech.
